Levenhuk LabZZ Tellurion is a tabletop mechanical display model of the rotation of the Earth and Moon around the Sun. The Tellurion will help kids learn why there are seasons, how the Moon phases change and why a year has twelve months. The Tellurion is a wonderful visual aid for astronomy or geography lessons.
The Tellurion is fixed on a stand with a screw. All Tellurion parts are connected with gears. The Earth and Moon models are operated by rotating a small crank handle.
There is a model of the Sun with a removable top part in the center of the rotating mechanism. The Sun lamp consists of two halves and has two batteries inside. The Sun lamp is turned on with a button located under its base. Remove the doweled top part of the model of the Sun to change the batteries.
Earth globe orbits the Sun counterclockwise. You can watch the seasons change with the help of the Tellurion. While Earth orbits the Sun once, the Moon orbits the Earth 12 times corresponding to 12 months of the year.
The main elements of this model are made of durable and safe plastic. The diameter of the Sun model is 100 mm, Earth's diameter is 85 mm, and the diameter of the Moon is 18 mm.
Note: the Tellurion contains small parts! Do not allow small children to play with the Tellurion without adult supervision.
