Frontier ED X 15–35x56
The Hawke Frontier ED X 15–35x56 combines the optical performance of a premium spotting scope with an exceptionally compact, travel-ready design. Its variable 15–35x magnification provides both a convenient overview and detailed observation of distant subjects. With its 56 mm objective lens, the scope remains considerably more compact than traditional large-objective spotting scopes, making it an excellent choice for birdwatching, nature observation, travel and demanding outdoor use.
With a field of view ranging from 70 to 36.7 metres at 1,000 metres, the Frontier ED X maintains a useful overview even at higher magnifications. A close focus distance of 4 metres further extends its versatility for observing nearby subjects. Measuring only 265 mm in length and weighing 1,005 grams, it offers an attractive combination for users seeking high optical performance in a highly portable format.
Optics – System H7
The high-performance System H7 combines Extra-Low Dispersion glass with premium lanthanum ocular elements and a phase-corrected BAK-4 roof prism. The ED optics significantly reduce chromatic aberration and unwanted colour fringing, while the sophisticated optical design delivers detailed images with accurate colour reproduction.
Super wide-angle optics combined with a flat-field view provide a generous field of view with excellent sharpness towards the edges. Wide-band, anti-reflective fully multi-coated optics maximise light transmission and help produce bright, high-contrast images even in more challenging lighting conditions.
Handling and Features
Focusing is controlled by a large, smooth barrel focus ring, allowing fast and precise adjustment. A twist-up eye cup and 18 mm of eye relief provide comfortable viewing.
For stable tripod use, the Frontier ED X features both a 1/4"-20 UNC tripod thread and an Arca-Swiss compatible mounting system. This allows the spotting scope to be mounted directly on many suitable tripod heads without the need for an additional quick-release plate.
The nitrogen-purged body is waterproof and fog proof for reliable performance in changing outdoor conditions. The spotting scope is also compatible with Hawke smartphone adapters, making it suitable for digiscoping and documenting observations.
